Cheap Flights
Alitalia is headquartered in Rome and it is
the national airline of Italy. The main hub of Alitalia is at
Malpensa International Airport, Milan. The second hub of
Alitalia is at Leonardo DA Vinci International Airport, Rome.
Alitalia flies to almost 100 destinations in Asia, Europe,
Africa and North and South America.
Check-in times vary according to the
airports. Check-in time in countries out of Italy is between
one to two hours prior to scheduled flight departure.
Passengers leaving from airports in Italy must check in at
least an hour before flight departure for intercontinental
flights, 40 minutes for international destinations and half an
hour for domestic flights.
Only one luggage is allowed per passenger,
with a maximum total of dimensions 55 x 25 x 35cm, and not
exceeding 5kg. Passengers may also carry one personal item such
as a handbag, laptop or briefcase.
One baggage not exceeding the maximum weight
of 20kg is allowed per passenger for domestic and international
economy flights. This does not include flights to the United
States, Canada and Mexico. For these flights, two bags are
permitted, not exceeding 32kg each, and maximum linear
dimensions (length + width + depth) of 158cm each.
Passengers are not allowed to change names
on their flight tickets. Passengers need to check with Alitalia
regarding other changes.
Alitalia’s fare for children aged two to
eleven is about 85 percent of an adult’s fare, if accompanied
by an adult. However, this varies from cases to cases. In some
situations, accompanied children will be charged full fare.
Infants aged up to 23 months old, seated on an adult’s lap will
be charged 10 percent of an adult’s fare. Children over five
years old travelling alone will be charged full fare, whereas
children below five years old are not allowed to travel
unaccompanied. Senior citizens’ discounts may be available.
Passengers will need to check with Alitalia in advance.
Pets will be checked in the hold on
transatlantic flights. Pet owners will need to call the
reservations number to book a pet on the flights.
Passengers may carry any musical
instruments, provided that it is not longer than 100cm or 40in,
as checked luggage. Passengers must purchase a seat for a
musical instrument as large as a cello. Other musical
instruments longer than 100cm are treated as cargo.
Alitalia claims to have “the best in Italian
and international cuisine”. For international flights of three
hours or more, vast arrays of meals that meet a variety of
religious and dietary needs are available. For special requests
such as children’s meals and peanut-free meals, passengers are
required to inform the airline at least 24 hours before flight
departure.
Alitalia’s frequent flyer programme is
called MilleMiglia. Passengers may check out the menu on
Alitalia’s flights online. Ulisse is Alitalia’s in-flight
magazine. It is published monthly and is available on every
flight. Ulisse is written in both Italian and English.
