Expedia Cheap Flights
Expedia.co.uk was launched in November 1998. It is an award winning and the largest online travel agent in the UK. Travellers
are able to browse through a directory of accommodation and rooms worldwide, hire cars from rental companies, choose discounted fares from over
450 airlines, and even choose from available pre-package holidays.
There are a number of ways of which a traveller can search for flights. Flights can be searched by types of trips and
searches, types of travellers, choosing a ticket class, and choosing search options.
For flight search, travellers can choose whether the flight is one-way or round trip. Both one-way or round trip flights may
include charter fares. Multiple destinations mean that the traveller will visit more than one location and therefore required to choose flights
between each location. Charter fares cannot be booked on multiple-destination tickets. Timetable search allows travellers to search through the
entire schedule of flights for all airlines, regardless of seat availability.
For types of travellers, the number of travellers must be provided in each age category. Up to six travellers can be included
per trip. Seniors are travellers aged 65 and older, adults are aged 19 to 64, children are travellers aged 2 to 18. Even though most airlines
charge standard adult fares for children aged 11 and above, Expedia requires information of children aged 12 to 18 so that they are able to offer
any available hotel and activity discounts. Expedia.co.uk will not sell tickets to unaccompanied children younger than 15.
Infants are children aged younger than two. Each traveller aged 12 and above may accompany up to two infants in their own
seats or one infant on the traveller’s lap. Travellers will be required to choose one seating option if travelling with an infant, which is
either laps or seats.
Discount fares for children and seniors vary by airline, flights, seat availability, and travellers‘ ages. Travellers can view the breakdown of
ticket prices in the Summary table in the left margin of the Flight Details page, in order to find out if their fares are discounted.
Unaccompanied minors are allowed to fly in many airlines. For unaccompanied minors, travellers must inquire with the airline
for specific policies and fees. Minors aged 5 to 17 are usually allowed on non-stop, direct or connecting flights, but are usually not accepted
on the last connecting flight of the day.
Most airlines require supervision service for minors from boarding time until the minor is met at the final destination, which
is also called unaccompanied minor service. The unaccompanied minor service will be charged about £30 for one-way. The airline will usually want
to know the person meeting the minor at the destination. This requires proof of identification for the receiving adult. Reservations are usually
needed to be confirmed for all segments of a minor’s flight and no standby reservations are allowed.
Many airlines offer Premium Economy, Business and/or First Class seating, apart from Coach/Economy seating. Certain airlines
use different names for their seating, so travellers are advised to inquire with the particular airline.
Travellers can narrow their roundtrip, one-way or multiple-destination by choosing direct flights only, refundable flights
only, no advance purchase restrictions, or exclude charters.
Travellers can choose to use e-tickets. This allows them to travel without a paper or printed ticket, thus elimination the
worry of losing the tickets. Adults and children can travel using e-tickets, but infants under the age of two cannot.
Upon purchasing an e-ticket, travellers will receive an email that includes the itinerary information and confirmation
numbers. When travellers check in at the airport, they are required to give the names, flight number, official documentation such as passport,
and a paper copy of the itinerary. Travellers can click the My Trips link to view the itinerary. To print it, travellers can click the Show
printable itinerary link in the Itinerary options table, and print it from this view.
Early check-in is necessary at the airport, whether the traveller is using a paper ticket or an e-ticket.
