KLM Cheap Flights
KLM is the national airline of the Netherlands. KLM joined with Air France in 2004 to create Air France-KLM. KLM flies from 18
destinations in the United Kingdom and Ireland to worldwide destinations. KLM’s hub is located at Amsterdam Schipol.
Check-in counters open two hours prior to scheduled flight departure and close 40 minutes before takeoff for flights within
Europe. Check-in counters open two hours before flight departure and close an hour before departure for international flights. Passengers can
also check-in online from 30 hours to one hour before departure. Self-service check-in kiosks are available at most airports. Passengers can
choose to check-in via telephone between 30 hours and one hour before flight departure, and then claim the ticket from the self-service kiosks at
the airport.
Only one luggage is allowed to be carried as hand luggage per passenger. The bag must not be larger than 55 x 35 x 25cm and
not exceeding 10kg. Passengers may also bring along a personal item such as an umbrella, handbag, briefcase, or laptop.
Only one luggage is allowed as checked baggage per passenger, with a maximum weight of 20kg. On flights to Canada and the
United States, passengers may check two bags, each weighing not more than 32kg, with a maximum dimensions of 158 linear cm. Certain exceptions
apply for routes beginning outside of United Kingdom, and routes from Nigeria, Surinam, Ecuador, Brazil, and Mexico.
Passengers will be charged from £85 for overweight and excess baggage, if travelling to the United States. For domestic Europe
flights, charges are £3.50 per kg for any excess baggage. Excess baggage can be booked in advance via the website, for 30 percent of the cost
charged at the airport.
Passengers are not allowed to request for any name changes. Depending on the ticket type, flight changes may be done by
calling the reservations number. Passengers will be charged an administrative fee.
Child fares are available and infants younger than two years old can travel for 10 percent of the standard adult rate. Senior
fares are not available for all KLM flights.
Pets such as cats and dogs can be carried in the cabin, in the hold or as cargo. Pets that are travelling unaccompanied must
be transported through the KLM cargo.
Passengers can purchase a separate seat for their large or fragile musical instruments instead of getting them checked.
Standard luggage fees apply for all musical instruments checked in the hold.
KLM serves meals for all flights. Passengers may request special dietary requirement meals up to 36 hours before flight
departure on an inter-continental flight, by calling the reservations centre. This also includes vegetarian meals, children’s meals, special
medical diets and meals for religious groups.
KLM allows passengers to collect air miles with Flying Blue, which is also a partner for more than 100 other airlines. Special
benefits that passengers can enjoy include a minimum of 500 awards on domestic flights and 750 awards on international flights, regardless of the
covered distance.
