United Airlines Cheap Flights
United Airlines is the fourth largest airline in the world, in terms of passengers transported. United Airlines flies within
the United States and carries more international passengers than any other carrier in America.
Passengers are required to check in 90 minutes before scheduled departure time for domestic flights and two hours before
flight departure for international flights. Passengers can also check-n online via United’s website as early as 24 hours to one hour before
flight departure. This applies for domestic flights. For international flights, passengers must check in two hours prior to departure time.
Self-service check-in kiosks are also available at the airports.
Only one luggage and one personal item, such as handbag, briefcase or laptop are allowed to be checked per passenger. The
luggage must be within the maximum of 114 linear cm (length + width +height).
Passengers are allowed to check two luggage if travelling domestically. Luggage must not be heavier than 23kg each and not
exceeding linear dimensions of 158cm. For international flights, two luggage can be checked free of charge, with weight not exceeding 45kg each
and maximum linear dimensions of 158cm.
Passengers will be charged an excess fee for oversized and overweight luggage. Bags with linear dimensions more than 292
linear cm and/or weighs more than 45kg will not be carried. Passengers must pay a fee of $50 per luggage for overweight items and $100 per
luggage for oversized items. For additional items, the cost for excess baggage will cost between $85 and $200 per piece. This depends on the
number of extra bags checked in.
Only passengers with Mileage Plus membership, an e-ticket and a password and an online profile may change their ticket details
online. Calculations of fare differences will be done automatically and billed to passengers’ credit card if the difference is more. If less, the
passengers will be refunded. If the passengers made the ticket bookings through travel agents, changes must be done through the travel
agents.
One infant aged two years old and below, can travel on an adult’s lap free on flights within the United States, San Juan, US
Virgin Islands and Canada. Children can travel in a seat for 50 percent of the price of an adult’s standard fare. Children aged five to seven can
travel unaccompanied on non-stop and direct routes, while children aged eight to twelve can travel alone on all flights. Certain fees apply for
minors travelling alone. Children aged twelve to seventeen are permitted to travel as adults.
Senior fares are available for those aged 55 and above if they are members of Silver Wings Plus. The programme offers
discounts on airfares as well as the opportunity to earn more air miles.
Pets such as dogs and cats can travel in the cabin with their owners, as checked baggage or unaccompanied as cargo. Passengers
need to inquire for transportations of other types of pets.
Passengers can carry musical instruments by having them checked for a standard baggage allowance. They can also purchase a
separate seat for large or fragile instruments. Checked items that require more than the standard allowance are subject to additional fees.
Free complimentary meals are only served in first and business class and on international flights. Fresh food menus are
available on all other classes for as cheap as $5. Movies and television programmes are shown on all flights.
Mileage Plus is the frequent flyer programme for United Airlines. It allows passengers to earn miles while flying with United
Airlines or with any of their partners.
