Flights
Zoom Airlines is a budget transatlantic
carrier based in Ottawa that links airports in the United
Kingdom. Zoom Airlines has been flying since May 2002 to
destinations in Canada and the United States. Zoom Airlines
also provides flights to Paris. Among the cities in Canada that
are on Zoom’s flight route schedule are Vancouver, Winnipeg,
Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, Montreal, and Calgary.
Passengers are required to check in as early
as four hours before flight departure time. Check-in counters
close an hour before flight take offs.
Carry-on baggages are allowed on Zoom
flights. Only one luggage is allowed per passenger, and it must
not be larger than the dimensions of 23 x 41 x 51cm. The
carry-on luggage must also be lighter than a maximum weight of
5kg or 11lbs. One small personal item per passenger is also
allowed, such as handbag, laptop or briefcase.
Checked baggage must be 20kg or 44lbs
maximum for one Economy Class passenger, 30kg or 66lbs maximum
per passenger who travels in Premium Economy Class.
Excess baggage will be charged $20 Canadian
or US per kg.
Passenger may change the names of the flight
ticket owners up to 48 hours before flight departure time and
will be charged $200 per name change.
Passengers who wish to change booking
details will be charged according to the given notice amount.
To amend details, passengers will be charged a $50 fee if doing
so, more than 29 days prior to flight departure date, $100 for
28 to 15 days prior to travel, $150 for 14 to 8 days earlier
than travel date and $200 for 7 to 1 days. Passengers may also
need to pay for any increment in ticket prices or taxes.
Infants aged two years and below are allowed
to travel on an adult’s lap for $25 per transatlantic flight.
No discount is available for children aged two years and above.
Senior citizens can fly free on Zoom Airlines.
Pets are not allowed in any Zoom flights.
However, service animals are permitted to be onboard free of
charge, securely harnessed and seated on the floor in front of
the owner.
Zoom allows carriage of musical instruments
as checked baggage. Each passenger is allowed to bring one
instrument as a carry-on luggage free. Musical instruments that
are small may be permitted as hand-held luggage, even though it
may not fit the size of the allowed carry-on luggage, due to
the irregular shape.
Selected sporting equipments are permitted
on all Zoom flights. Only one item per passenger is allowed as
carry-on. There may be extra charges for certain sporting
equipments that are large, such as windsurfers, canoes,
surfboards and so forth. All sporting equipment must be packed
in standard bags before packaged in protective wraps.
In Economy Class, complimentary soft drinks
are served, but passengers will need to purchase alcoholic
drinks for $6 per drink. All drinks are complimentary in
Premium Economy Class, with the exception of champagne. Light
snacks may be served in-flight, depending on the time of the
day. A variety of snacks is available for purchase. Zoomaway is
